So you read the previous blog post on pregnancy’s pleasant surprises and decided to book a boudoir session to capture this beautiful moment in your life whether this is your first or third. It is never too late to capture this amazing chapter in your life.
Here you will find tips on what to wear to your maternity boudoir shoot;
- If you are looking for a more “back to basics” shoot a flowy peasant skirt with a simple tank top to outline all the important curves and assets.
- Black (or any other colour aside from stripes) simple dress that hugs your curves and belly with a a classic long pearl necklace.
- Boy shorts and a tank top or a boob tube (both should be the same colour, avoid prints and designs).
- Sheer lingerie robe…or a sheer slip.
- Your hubby’s shirt, without being a bit cliche but it really looks great with rolled up sleeves.
- Baby items: toy, shoes or a special blanket.
- Wraps or fabric, something silky but not multi-coloured.
- Comfy sweater , preferably with buttons.
- Jeans and tank.
- Let’s not forget the heels, something colourful like red.
- If you are comfortable you can also skip the outfits and showcase your beauty in your bare skin. You could also add some accessories (necklace).
- Simple bra and undies.
- Long flowy, silky dress that hugs your curves and shows off your beautiful belly!
The goal is to showcase the belly so wear stuff that makes you feel comfortable and not too tight.

And what’s a maternity photo blog without some terribly awful “maternity photos” and an idea of what NOT to at your maternity boudoir shoot, or any shoot for that matter. Yikes lol!
