It’s herbal and smooth and then there’s a kick of heat. So, yes, this isn’t your average milk chocolate bar.
Instead, the Rosemary Fusion bar from Cococo Chocolatiers starts with the herbal notes of rosemary and thyme and then packs some punch from the Habanero sea salt that comes at end of a bite. It’s an unusual combination, but if you like a bit of spice, it might be just the chocolate for you.
Certainly the judges at the recent International Chocolate Awards 2012, held in London in October, thought so. They awarded the bar silver in the Flavoured Milk Chocolate Bar category.
Now the rest of us can give it a try as Cococo puts it on sale on Boxing Day, in time to ring in the new year.
The 100-gram bar works well for sharing (or not, no judgment) and could be a tasty addition to a New Year’s Eve spread as it is said to pair well with wines — especially bubbly — as well as mild, creamy cheeses, cured meats and nuts.
Wine Access executive editor Shelley Boettcher also suggests semi-dry Rieslings and fruity beers are a good match.
Can’t wait until Dec. 26? Starting next week, Cococo will be offering samples at participating Chocolaterie Bernard Callebaut stores.
